DIY - SOY CONTAINER CANDLE

A few years ago I started making my own soy candles and ever since have been asked how I do it, soy candles are actually incredibly easy to make, here's how....

You will need:

-Container soy wax
-Large saucepan
-Pyrex jug
-Glassware (I use vintage glassware sourced from secondhand stores)
-Wick(s)
-Fragrance
-Wick holder

1. Half fill the saucepan with water and bring to a medium heat (not boiling).

2. Add the wax to the Pyrex jug and float it over the saucepan of water, make sure the pyrex jug doesn't touch the bottom of the saucepan. It is ideal if the handle fits over the pot edge.

(to determine how much wax you will need , measure how many mls the glassware holds and convert to grams ie: 100ml-100g of wax)

3. Heat the wax until melted.

4. Dip the tab end of the wick into the melted wax and place it on the bottom of the glass to secure.

5. Once the wick has adhered to the bottom of the container thread the wick through the wick holder, this will help keep it centered when pouring the wax.

6. Add the fragrance to the melted wax, stir gently for two minutes. Fragrance load can be anywhere between 6% and 10% depending on how strong you want the scent to be. I use 10% of fragrance.

7. Remove the wax from the heat and let it stand for two minutes, pour into your glassware.

TIPS:

-Allow candle to set for at least 24 hours before burning.

-Burn for at least one hour the first time you light your candle to allow the melt pool to develop out to the edge, this sets the 'memory' for the candle and will ensure an even burn each time you light it.

I source all my candle making supplies from Candle Creations.
