ONE TO WATCH - AMBER WHITECLIFFE

Amber Whitecliffe launched her label (under the same name) in November last year and I have enjoyed watching her brand go from strength to strength in such a short time frame. I love how Amber has a very clear direction, her designs are recognisable for their feminine detailing, use of beautiful fabrics, and flattering silhouettes.
I also admire that all of her work is proudly made in New Zealand, from the initial design and patterning making, to the final construction of the garments.

Amber’s recent collection ‘Thumbelina Summer 13/14’ (above) is inspired by the children’s storybook Thumbelina, it fits perfectly with Amber’s love of flowers, lace and colour, which is evident within the design details of each piece in the collection. My Favorite designs are the Rose skirt with the cotton lace panels on the pockets, and the Daisy shirt. The range also includes pieces that are perfect for summer weddings and events. I am also a fan of her ‘Meraki Winter 2013’ collection (below), particularly the gorgeous cut of the Hera dress, and the Eirene skirt, that has a stunning tan vinyl laser cut fabric overlay.

Amber is also holding a sale at her studio over Labour weekend, be sure not to miss it!. All images via Amber Whitecliffe and Amber's Facebook page.
