It's not that often that I get a chance to do some baking, but when I do (and it turns out to be a success) I like to share! This is my trusted 'go-to' caramel slice recipe, it is super sweet and delicious but I can never cut it nicely and it always ends up in irregular pieces - hey at least it tastes good right!
CARAMEL SLICE
Ingredients:
Base:
1 cup self-raising flour
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup desiccated coconut
125g melted butter
1t vanilla essence
Filling:
75g butter
1 tin of sweetened condensed milk
1/3 cup of golden syrup
Topping:
50g butter
300g milk chocolate
- Preheat oven to 180°C bake or 160°C for fan bake ovens
- Grease a baking 15cm x 20cm baking dish and
line with baking paper
- Combine all base ingredients and firmly
press mixture into the baking dish
- Bake for 20mins or until lightly brown
- Set aside to cool
- Combine filling ingredients in a saucepan
and stir over a low heat until smooth
- Pour over base and bake for 25mins until
golden
- Set aside to cool
- Melt topping ingredients and pour evenly
over the slice
- Set in fridge then cut into pieces and enjoy!
Happy Baking!
