INSPIRATION - VERTICAL GARDENS

Ever since my first trip to Stephen Marr in Takapuna I have had a fascination with vertical gardens.
The salon (pictured above) features a double sided interior green wall that is an impressive 10 meters long x 2 meters high, a stunning living installation that was designed by Natural Habitats Landscapes and includes over 1000 individual plants.

I love the idea of incorporating vertical gardens into indoor and outdoor spaces, they not only act as a space saver but also as a practical and dramatic visual feature. My husband and I have been working on our outdoor side garden for the past month, one that will eventually become a landscaped area which includes a raised veggie garden and an area for fruit trees. I think this will be the perfect area to include a vertical herb garden, possibly along the fence line or against the side of the house. I have been posting a few progress shots via my instagram page (@beaumondemama) and will do a before and after post once it is completed.

The options for DIY vertical gardens are endless, try using an old wooden pallet, stack pots or suspend from walls, there are also pre-made vertical planter bags available from leading garden stores.

I hope everyone has a great weekend, lets hope this sunshine sticks around as I am planning on getting stuck into the garden!
